Sundered and Undone

You are an urSkek, a cosmic being from another world. You have made your way to the planet Thra, where you uncover the Dark Crystal. In an effort to purify yourself, you separate yourself into a being without desire–a Mystic–and a being of pure vice–a Skeksis. But what has been divided is often made whole again, and in your journeys your two halves shall once again become one.

Sundered and Undone is a single-player storytelling game played with a standard 52-card deck. This game takes place in the universe of Jim Henson's 1982 film The Dark Crystal, and the format of the game contains spoilers for the movie's ending. The game's mechanics are inspired by the Quiet Year and the Tower Game.

Each turn, a card is drawn and placed upon either the Mystic or Skeksis’ journey based on its suite. The value of the card determines which question is asked, and the suite determines if it is to be the Virtue question or the Vice question. The stories of the Mystic and Skeksis are told in parallel until the second Ace is drawn, at which point the Great Conjunction occurs and two are made one again.
